Report: Tottenham is eyeing a move for 26-year-old Saint-Gilloise centre Back.. to be added to their January wishlist
More details..
90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Union Saint-Gilloise centre-back Koki Machida in January.
Machida first made a name for himself at his hometown club Kashima Antlers and came up against Ange Postecoglou’s Yokohama F Marinos multiple times during the Australian’s stint in the J-League.
The Japanese defender joined Union SG on an 18-month loan deal in January of 2022, with the Belgian top-flight club singing him permanently this summer.
Tottenham like the look of Koki Machida
The 26-year-old’s displays over the last year have turned quite a lot of heads, with 90 min revealing that the defender was also previously on Brighton’s radar.
The report adds that Spurs have now been impressed by Machida and have added him to their list of centre-back targets ahead of January.
It is alleged that the Lilywhites believe the Japan international has the physical attributes to play in Postecoglou’s aggressive front line and the fact that he is left-footed is another big tick in his box.
Spurs Web Opinion
It very much seems like Machida is a Postecoglou target rather than a name proposed by Johan Lange, Rob MacKenize or someone else. So, this transfer rumour might have some legs.
