Agent says Spurs will make decision on £26m centre-back who’s ‘ready’ to join

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Radu Dragusin in recent months and speculation is intensifying ahead of the January transfer window.

Spurs could do with bolstering their defensive ranks after a space of injuries and suspensions derailed their table-topping start to the Premier League season.
Over the last few days, there have been reports claiming Tottenham are leading the race to sign Dragusin and are potentially ready to make a bid.

Now, the Genoa centre-back’s agent has spoken about Spurs’ interest in the player, saying the Lilywhites will let them know whether or not they’ll proceed with a move.
“I spoke to Tottenham a few days before the Juventus match,” Florin Manea told Fanatik. “They took information about Radu, about his character, but it stopped there.

“They will let us know if they want to continue or not. And there are several clubs calling, not only Tottenham.

“I know that if Tottenham will contact us that they want to make the transfer, then it is clear that they are doing it because they need him and then by the summer, he will be 100% able to play.
“Now it also depends on him how he plays, if you play badly until the summer, it’s normal that in the summer they will reorient themselves.

“There are big clubs, there are clubs that have money, nobody is waiting for you. But I think that Radu is ready for this step, both mentally and physically.”

Radu Dragusin a decent shout for Tottenham Hotspur – TBR View
‘Once bitten and twice shy’. Not just lyrics that feature in the new UK Christmas No. 1, but also what Ange Postecoglou may well be thinking in terms of the Tottenham defence.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have proven to be a formidable centre-back pairing, but when both were absent, things went pear-shaped at Spurs.
Postecoglou will not want that sort of thing to happen again, so there’s a good chance – “100 percent”, according to Fabrizio Romano – that a new centre-back will come in during the January window.

Dragusin is a talented young player who has been doing well for Genoa in Serie A. The £26million-rated 22-year-old has a high ceiling, and seems both available and decently-priced.

Better still for the likes of Spurs, Dragusin’s mother previously told Romanian outlet AS that her son’s “childhood dream” is to play in the Premier League.

Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks. This looks like a rumour with legs.
