AGREEMENT REACHED – Despite a tricky deal, Tottenham Hotspur has managed to reach an agreement with 23-year-old French ‘sensational’ centre-back. [Full Story]

According to Football Insider, sources have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have started preliminary talks with OGC Nice for Jean-Clair Todibo.

Tottenham’s interest in the French centre-back has gone into overdrive since being first reported by Sky Sports at the start of December.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that Spurs had opened talks with the French club over a potential January move. He confirmed that Todibo is on top of Spurs’ list but talks won’t be easy.

90 min backed this claim by adding that Todibo is near the top of Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist and that the North London club could secure his signature for just £35m.

Contradicting these claims though, the Athletic’s David Ornstein has his doubts about whether Tottenham will be able to land Jean-Clair Todibo in the January transfer window.

Signing a defender is a priority for Tottenham

The Football Insider report has claimed that Ange Postecoglou has identified a defensive reinforcement as a priority in January. Talks have already started with Jean Clair-Todibo.

However, the report backs up Romano’s claim that a move for the Nice man is not going to be easy. Tottenham will have their work cut out if they want to bring the Frenchman to North London in the winter window.

Jean-Clair Todibo donning a Spurs shirt is a very exciting prospect. However, there is still a long way to go before we manage to secure his signature. A lot will have to do with the player’s desire to come here.

I am still not confident that we will get to sign Todibo in January. The interest is very much there but convincing the French club to sell him mid-season could be a tough task. Let’s wait and see how this goes.
