‘My next club………’: Ivan Toney sends transfer hint on social media highlighting the club that suits his style amid Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea links.
Rumoured Tottenham target Ivan Toney has seemingly issued a come-and-get-me plea to Arsenal by liking a social media post asking the Gunners to sign him.
Spurs Web has relayed several reports over the last couple of months that have indicated that Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal are expected to battle it out for Toney’s signature in January when his ban lapses (Express).
Tottenham’s chances of winning the race for the 27-year-old always appeared like a long shot, with the Lilywhites potentially needing to shatter their transfer record to do secure the player.
That was by confirmed by The Independent, who claimed last week that while Ange Postecogluo’s men ‘would love to sign’ Toney, they have been priced out of a move after Brentford demanded £80m for their star man.
The outlet suggested that the Gunners had now emerged as the favourites to land the England international, with the striker said to prefer a switch to Mikel Arteta’s men over joining Chelsea.
Toney throws a big Arsenal hint on Instagram
Toney himself has now thrown a big hint on social media, expressing his desire to move to the Emirates Stadium.
According to TEAMtalk, the striker ‘liked’ a comment from an Arsenal fan on one of his Instagram posts which read: ‘Arsenal, do the right thing’.
Spurs Web Opinion
Even if Postecoglou wanted to sign a number nine in January, Toney was never going to be a realistic choice as it would make little sense for Spurs to spend such a big fee on a number nine when the team is in much more urgent need of a centre-back and a direct winger.
