JUST IN – Eric dier sent emotional final message to Spurs and all fans as he finally exit for Bayern Munich after 10-years of good job at White Hart Lane.
Eric Dier has now officially joined Bayern Munich, leaving Tottenham Hotspur after almost a decade at the club, and has shared an emotional message reflecting on his time in North London.
Signed from Sporting Lisbon in 2014, Dier went on to make 364 appearances for the Lilywhites over the years, registering 13 goals and 12 assists (Transfermarkt).
Dier was a key part of the Mauricio Pochettino era at Spurs, playing in both defensive midfield and centre-back as the team challenged for the Premier League title and reached the final of the Champions League.
The 29-year-old had been sidelined under new manager Ange Postecoglou this season, and with his current contract expiring in the summer, the decision was made to move Dier on this month.
Surprisingly, Bayern Munich emerged as the leading suitors for the England international. Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel spoke about how he wanted to bring Dier to the club due to his versatility (Buli News).
Dier travelled to Germany today and completed his medical, before Tottenham confirmed an agreement had been reached that will see the player join Bayern on a loan deal until the end of the season with an option-to-buy clause.
Eric Dier’s final words as a Spurs player
In his final interview for the club, Dier said: “It’s been an incredible journey. When I arrived, I never expected this… nine-and-a-half years is a long time… I made friends, some of my best friends.
“I’ve been incredibly lucky to work under some of the best managers in world football, and I don’t take any of those experiences for granted.”
Reflecting on some of his fondest memories, Dier added: “My debut, against West Ham, was incredible. That all happened so quickly… it was a bit of a whirlwind.
“I will miss this dressing room now. I’ve been on a journey with these people… the people are what makes anything, and the way I’ve built relationships with them, and the way they’ve looked after me.”
And, on his final moments at the club, he said: “You leave the training ground and it hits you that you might not be going back, and that’s a crazy thought, having been there for so long… [the club has] become a part of my life for so long.
“Obviously the fans, it’s been a hell of a journey. The way I was received from the moment I came has been incredible. I hope you can experience great success with the club moving forward. I’ll be watching, supporting, and hoping for the same.”

Although it was time for Eric to move on, it still hurts to see such a key figure leave the club and to know how much this team meant to him. He really did give so much to the club during his time here, and I’m so happy that he gets to move on to another big club, and to be reunited with his friend, Harry Kane.
