“He’s not a player we can lose soon, he has potentials”: Ange Postecoglou has given his verdict on 21-year-old Tottenham star who’s facing criticism of been a flop. [Full Details]
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has given his verdict on Radu Dragusin.
Postecoglou has outlined what he likes about Dragusin and has noted that the 21-year-old Romania international central defender could still grow and develop.
So, what has Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou said about Radu Dragusin? Let’s take a look.
Ange Postecoglou gives his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin
Well, Tottenham Hotspur have signed Radu Dragusin. The defender has moved from Italian club Genoa in the January transfer window. Cristian Stellini rates him highly.
Spurs have paid Genoa an initial transfer fee of £21.5 million for Dragusin (Sky Sports). Bayern Munich and Napoli were also keen on the defender, but the 21-year-old chose Tottenham instead.
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou has been hugely impressed by what he has seen of Dragusin, who has already been tipped to join Real Madrid in the future.
The former Celtic manager has noted the attributes of the defender and has backed him to get better and improve even more in the coming years.
When asked about Dragusin’s best qualities, Postecoglou said, as quoted in Football.London: “We’ve been working on the centre-back position pretty much since the summer window closed and there’s been a whole list of players we worked through methodically. A lot of that work has been done by the scouting department and Johan came in and Rob Mackenzie and the team started working into further detail.
“They presented it to me probably six weeks ago. From that onwards, Radu was always on the radar as one of the players we thought would be a good option for us. Then it was about getting as much information on him as a player and a person. We spoke to as many people about him as possible and had him scouted again and I’ve been following him since we highlighted him.
“In my mind, once we got down to the real detail, I thought he was the best option for us. Before the window opened we made the decision that Radu would be our number one priority. I like his defensive attributes, his physical attributes, I think there’s still a lot of growth in him. A lot of improvement in him. He’s only 21, only had one year in Serie A, not even a full year and he fits the profile of the kind of players we want here.”
My View: Radu Dragusin could be a star for Tottenham Hotspur
In my opinion, Radu Dragusin could be a star for Tottenham Hotspur in the coming years.
I believe that the Romania international centre-back could establish himself as a key player in head coach Ange Postecoglou’s team.
We have already seen young and promising players flourish in Postecoglou’s system. Micky van de Ven has been one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, while Destiny Udogie is being claimed to be the best left-back in the English top flight at the moment.
