Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has shared his feelings about the draw with Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs travelled to Old Trafford on Sunday, looking to leapfrog rivals Arsenal into the top four.
The game got off to a less-than-ideal start for Ange Postecoglou’s side as Rasmus Hojlund fired Man United ahead, inside three minutes. Spurs kept their cool, though, and quickly equalised through a Richarlison header.
A smart finish from Rashford put United back in front before half-time but Spurs found themselves back on level terms through Rodrigo Bentancur’s strike, just 50 seconds into the second half, to maintain the eight-point gap between the two sides. Despite being without several of their star players, Tottenham enjoyed 64 per cent possession and the majority of the chances at Old Trafford.
However, Rashford took a different view of the game. Taking to Instagram, the England forward wrote: “Gutted to not get the three points today.”
Given that Spurs played most of the game on the front foot, few would argue that Man United were unfortunate to come away with a draw. Following the final whistle, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville argued that Spurs could finish above Liverpool and Arsenal, while Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for his players.
“It was an outstanding effort and I thought some of our football was fantastic,” he said. “I thought we were unlucky not to win the game. Irrespective of that, the performance and the effort the boys put in was first rate.”
