The north London club completely outplayed the Red Devils for most of the match, but a lack of a cutting edge at times led to the game finishing level.
Tottenham were missing most of their key attackers and midfielders for this one, so you can hardly blame them for their inability to score goals.
Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has been analysing this game, and he says that if Tottenham still had Harry Kane in their team, Spurs would’ve battered United 8-2.
Kane would’ve dismantled United
Sutton shared his verdict on how this game would’ve gone if the £86m man was playing.
“We are so quick to forget that Tottenham sold their best player in the summer in Harry Kane. You think about all the goals he scored, imagine if Kane was there at Old Trafford, they would’ve beaten United 8-2,” Sutton said.
Missed him
For one of the first times this season, Tottenham have genuinely looked like they missed Harry Kane.
The England captain’s absence has, strangely, barely been felt at Spurs over the past few months, but on Sunday, you could tell that Spurs were missing that one player to make the difference.
Kane would’ve finished may of the chances that Spurs created, while he also probably would’ve had a field day in terms of creating his own opportunities from deep.
Of course, it’s impossible to say that one player would’ve made that much of a difference, but we can’t help but feel that Spurs would’ve beaten United comfortably if Kane was in the team on Sunday.
Spurs don’t usually miss Kane, but their recent issues injury and international commitments have left them rather light in terms of an attacking threat.
