“IMPOSSIBLE”: Ange Postecoglou chuckles after hearing about Manchester City’s ‘serious interest’ to sign his most valuable player who has been ‘exceptional’ and ‘consistent’ since his arrival at White Hart Lane

“IMPOSSIBLE”: Ange Postecoglou chuckles after hearing about Manchester City’s ‘serious interest’ to sign his most valuable player who has been ‘exceptional’ and ‘consistent’ since his arrival at White Hart Lane.

Football Insider have revealed that Manchester City are plotting a move to re-sign Pedro Porro next summer.

City signed Porro from Girona in £11m deal back in 2019 but the right-back never made a single senior appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side.

He was shipped out on loan to Valladolid and Sporting Lisbon, eventually making a permanent switch to the Portuguese giants in the summer of 2022.

Just six months later, Spurs paid £44m to land him from the Jose Alvalade Stadium and he initially struggled to come to terms with the pace of the Premier League, being found wanting at times defensively.

However, since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival last summer, Porro has been one of Tottenham’s most consistent performers and has arguably been the best right-back on show in the English top flight this season.

The 24-year-old has eight assists in the Premier League so far this season, which is the most by any Spurs defender in a single campaign (Squawka).

Man City plotting a move for Tottenham’s Pedro Porro

According to Football Insider, Porro’s displays at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have attracted the attention of Man City, who are thought to hold a ‘strong interest’ in the right-back.

The report suggests that the reigning Premier League champions are keeping close tabs on the Spurs star as well as another one of their former players, Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, ahead of next summer.

Football Insider assert that the Lilywhites value the Spain international at a whopping £100m.

Spurs Web Opinion

Porro looks quite happy at Tottenham but even if he does ask to leave, Daniel Levy will demand a humungous fee, which will likely scare off City. With the right-back contracted to the club until 2028, Spurs are in a very strong position.
