WAR AFTER BATTLE 😂 – Pundit Paul Robinson reacts to Roy Keane’s comment on Skysport after Spurs draw with ‘POOR’ Manchester United last week.

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

Paul Robinson has hailed the “fantastic” season Tottenham are having compared to the summer expectations but felt the draw at Manchester United should have been a win.

Roy Keane had suggested on the Sky Sports match coverage after full time on 14 January that the praise for Spurs was going “overboard” and everyone needed to “relax”.

Robinson agrees that Erik ten Hag’s side have been “poor” at home but feels it shows the standard that Ange Postecoglou has managed to maintain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this term that his side will have come away from Old Trafford dissatisfied with a point following the 2-2 draw.

Goals from Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur saw Spurs twice come back from behind to cancel out strikes from Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford, but the former England keeper Robinson doesn’t think it should detract from a strong campaign, particularly with so many players unavailable to the manager.

He exclusively told Tottenham News“Regardless of what Roy Keane says about Spurs I think they’re having a fantastic season from what the expectation was at the start of it.

“Everybody has their opinions, the pundits, different players, ex-players.

“From a Tottenham point of view I thought it was three points dropped, the way that they played.

“You look at how Manchester United have been this year, you look at how poor they’ve been at home, getting beaten by the likes of Bournemouth and struggling to beat Luton at home.

They’ve been very, very inconsistent. They’ll have one decent performance with a win, then they’ll play poorly and lose, they’ve been so inconsistent like that all season.

“So from a Tottenham point of view, the amount of possession they had, the chances they had, yes okay you look at it and going into Old Trafford a point is a decent result.

“But going to Old Trafford in 2024 is that a decent result, the way that they’re playing?

“Spurs, it shows where they are that they’re coming away from Old Trafford thinking they could have had more and probably should have had more.

”Okay a point’s a decent result but a lot of people made them favourites for that game. Even with the players they’ve got missing, 11 players were unavailable for selection for the manager, whether they’re away on international duty or injured or suspended, that he could [otherwise] have picked in the starting XI.

“It shows where they’re at. I think they’re having a fantastic season.”

In other Tottenham news, Robinson admits it would be a “fantastic deal” for Spurs to sign another Nottingham Forest player after activity emerged heading into the January window.
