Ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Tom Huddlestone believes Ange Postecoglou should prioritize Champions League spot

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Tom Huddlestone believes Ange Postecoglou should prioritize the Premier League over the FA Cup. He was speaking to talkSPORT podcast, shared by its X handle. He said:

“I reckon the manager would be thinking, ‘I’m going to be here long term; I’d enjoy a crack at Champions League football.’”

The panel was discussing Ange’s situation at the club and what should be his immediate goals. His side will be facing Manchester City on 27th January in the FA Cup fourth round. Whereas, the Brentford clash awaits the North Londoners in the next EPL match day.

Tottenham are currently fifth on the league table with 40 points. The Lilywhites’ FA Cup glory came a long time ago in the 1990-91 season. The Aussie head coach will be without Heung-min Son for the much-awaited Manchester City clash. It should be interesting to see how the Spurs manager will deploy his squad to take down a formidable side.

Ange’s red pill, blue pill moment

Rivals fans often mock Tottenham for their ’empty trophy cabinet’. It’s been nearly more than a decade and a half since the North Londoners kissed a silverware. Facing Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup should be a blockade to their dreams yet again.

Manchester City boasts squad depth and individual quality like no other. Hence, the task will be quite daunting for The Lilywhites. Spurs do not possess similar strength at the moment to gun for both, the FA Cup and the EPL title, at the same time.

Shifting his focus to one should be ideal for Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham Hotspur failed to make it to the top four last season and they might not settle for anything lesser than a Champions League spot this term.
