“Forget his importance”: Sky Journalist claims Tottenham will consider permanent sale of …….. once good offer arrives without considering how importance he is in the team.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has revealed that Ange Postecoglou would definitely want to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg if the Dane departs the club by the end of this month.

Hojbjerg played all 90 minutes for Tottenham in their 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, with Postecoglou not having much choice but to turn to the Dane as Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are currently at the African Cup of Nations.

Both those players are likely to miss a couple of more weeks of action, with Senegal having sealed their passage to the knockout stage while Mali are also well-placed to do so.

That might perhaps explain Tottenham’s hesitance to cash in on Hojbjerg, who, according to reports over recent days, continues to be on the radar of Juventus (Florian Plettenberg).

Should Tottenham sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg?

Spurs also appear no closer to bringing a midfielder through the door at the moment, and Sheth has now suggested that the Lilywhites will definitely want to do so if they are to let the former Southampton man leave.

When asked about the 28-year-old’s future, he told GiveMeSport: “If there is sufficient interest in a player like Hojbjerg and it’s on a permanent deal, then I think Tottenham might consider doing business for Hojbjerg, provided they can bring in a replacement. Because we know that the Tottenham squad is pretty slim as it is.

“I know they brought in Werner and they brought in Dragusin, but that was almost just, as much as they wanted those players, to fill in that squad, because we’ve seen the issues that they’ve had when they’ve had injuries in certain positions. So I’m sure they’ll keep their eyes open in the midfield area in particular, but I think it might depend on outgoings as well at Tottenham.”

All indications that Tottenham’s pursuit of a midfielder (potentially Conor Gallagher) would drag on until the final few days of the window and so will Hojbjerg’s future as a result.

There is no doubt that quite a few clubs would want the Dane but the question is whether Spurs can get a decent fee for the midfielder, with the likes of Juve not really in a position to spend much on new recruits.
