‘I very much doubt it’… Ange Postecoglou himself makes confident prediction about Guardiola ahead of Tottenham vs Manchester City

‘I very much doubt it’… Ange Postecoglou himself makes confident prediction about Guardiola ahead of Tottenham vs Manchester City.

Manchester City finally return to action on Friday night after what has seemed like an age, as they face Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup – and Ange Postecoglou has made a confident prediction about Pep Guardiola.

City have not played since the 3-2 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League on January 13.

With no game last weekend, City jetted off to Abu Dhabi for warm-weather training, returning on Tuesday.

Hopefully it has done the players good, because a huge game awaits tomorrow night, which takes place at a venue that has not been a happy hunting ground for Pep Guardiola.

City have played Spurs five times at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and lost every time, also failing to score a goal.

Ange Postecoglou in no doubt about Pep Guardiola’s stance on Manchester City’s record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Pep Guardiola faced reporters today ahead of the game with Spurs, and provided updates about some players.

Erling Haaland isn’t quite ready to be involved, and neither is Manuel Akanji after he went off in the last FA Cup match against Huddersfield Town.

But Ederson is OK after going off against Newcastle, and John Stones will also be part of the squad.

Postecoglou also spoke to the media today ahead of the game, and he was actually asked about City’s poor record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Australian tactician is in doubt that it will not be something that Pep Guardiola even considers tomorrow night. He said (football.london): “I’ve got no idea what’s on Pep’s mind, mate. No idea. I very much doubt it. I don’t think anyone in the game today looks at those things too closely as a predictor of what’s ahead. It is fair to say there has been a fair bit of chance in our team and their team over that course of time and every game is a bit different. I’ll be surprised if there’s no goals tomorrow! I think it will be a great challenge and it should be a cracking game. Both teams are looking forward to seeing how we match up.

City need to beat Spurs

Many City fans will be nervous going into tomorrow night’s game, with Spurs proving to be a thorn in Guardiola’s side several times over the years.

The club’s record at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium is well documented, and City could really do with winning tomorrow night. Not only to keep the hopes of somehow doing another Treble alive, but to get a much-needed psychological boost for future games with Spurs.

It should be a cracker – games between these two usually are.

Hopefully, City can edge the north Londoners – who will be without the extremely dangerous Heung-min Son – this time.
