‘More to come, I love his energy’… Ange Postecoglou says £90k-a-week Tottenham player is set to explode.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has backed Richarlison to get even better following his impressive upturn in form.
The Spurs forward is one of most in-form players in the whole Premier League at present, with nine goals from his last eight league matches.
Richarlison had been struggling for a long time due to the groin issue he had, but soon after returning to action from surgery, he has been prolific.
On Saturday, the 26-year-old twice put Tottenham ahead against Everton, opening the scoring in the fourth minute when he swept home Destiny Udogie’s cross.
After Jack Harrison’s controversial equaliser, Richarlison edged Spurs in front once again, curling home from outside the box after James Maddison poked the ball his way.
Sadly, the £90,000-a-week (Spotrac) forward’s efforts weren’t enough to gain all three points, as Tottenham conceded in second-half injury time after some poor defending.
Nevertheless, Richarlison’s form continues to be one of the positives for Spurs, and Postecoglou believes we aren’t even seeing the best of the Brazilian just yet.
Richy was good again, not just his goals but his general play,” he told football.london.
“It was again really important for us. He worked hard for the team and there’s more to come from Richy. He’s working hard on his game.”
Richarlison firing on all cylinders for Tottenham
Since coming back from groin surgery, Richarlison has rediscovered the form that took him from the Brazilian leagues to Tottenham and the Selecao squad via Watford and Everton.
Richarlison had been struggling for a long time, and sadly – as is all too often the case – there was non-stop criticism being sent his way.
That’s now in the past, with Richarlison showing everyone exactly why Tottenham paid around £60million for him and Brazil took him to the 2022 World Cup.
