“Arsenal will have been my preferred PL club to play for but I will chose Spurs over Chelsea since Arsenal are not interested”: Spurs finally submitted a £55m bid for long-term target after he delivers his verdict on his PL future amid Chelsea and Spurs interest. [Full Story link in comment]
Tottenham Hotspur are willing to make a summer bid for Barcelona winger Raphinha, a player who recently claimed he really likes Arsenal.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side have been fantastic in each of the last two transfer windows. Spurs are keen to continue that next summer, and Raphinha is reportedly a player on their radar now.
Tottenham and Chelsea are ready to bid for Barcelona’s Raphinha
Barcelona signed Raphinha from Leeds United before the start of last season in a £55 million deal (BBC).
The Brazilian was a star in the Premier League. He was incredible for Leeds and was heavily linked with plenty of clubs before he moved to Spain, including Tottenham.
There were claims that Spurs were actually prioritising a move to sign Raphinha ahead of Richarlison back then, but the winger chose Barcelona in the end.
Now, Sport has claimed that the Catalans need to make some big sales in the summer, and even though Raphinha wants to stay, he could be pressurised to leave to balance the books.
The report adds that Tottenham and Chelsea are both willing to table a bid to sign the Brazilian, as are Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.
Raphinha has scored four goals and provided seven assists for Barcelona in 20 games this season. His contract at the Camp Nou doesn’t expire until the summer of 2027.
Raphinha really likes Arsenal
The rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham is one of the most intense in the history of English football.
The two sets of fans do not like each other, and although most Tottenham supporters would likely take Raphinha, they’ll definitely not appreciate what he has said about Arsenal.
In a quickfire interview on TikTok with Adri Contreras last month, Raphinha was asked to name a team outside Spain that he likes.
Without any hesitation, the Barcelona star replied: “The Arsenal!”
