“It really worked out”: Richarlison revealed what he went through behind the scene before getting back to top form and sends three-word message to all Spurs fans [Full story link in comment]
Tottenham’s center-forward Richarlison has been in scintillating form, scoring nine goals in his last eight Premier League matches.
The Brazilian striker attributes his remarkable comeback to therapy, revealing that it has helped him feel more like himself and significantly contributed to his improved performances.
Richarlison’s resurgence has been evident, notably with a recent brace against his former club Everton at Goodison Park.
His goal tally for the season now stands at ten goals in 20 league appearances, accompanied by three assists.
This turnaround is particularly impressive considering his struggles last season, where he managed just one goal in 27 appearances, leading to criticism and labeling him a flop.
However, the 26-year-old has undergone a transformation following groin surgery and the support of therapy.
Richarlison’s openness about seeking help through therapy has garnered appreciation from fans.
He acknowledges the initial reluctance due to cultural stereotypes but emphasises the positive impact it has had on his mental well-being and overall happiness.
He said (via The Athletic):
“I’m from a small town, and it can be a bit like, ‘I’m not gonna do this therapy thing cause I’m not crazy’. Because some people from the countryside have this pre-conception, my family has it.
“But it got to a point when I understood that I needed help. And a lot of people were telling me this. So I got help and the therapist has been helping me a lot.
“I think after you take your first session you will understand what it means. I was very happy. I’m still doing it and I’ll carry on (with therapy) because it’s been helping me a lot.
“I think the main thing is my happiness. I was able to find my happiness again. I came from periods of my life when I was very down and sad… I wasn’t the Richarlison everyone knew.
“So I think I was able to find this again, this hope I had. That was the most important thing I got back.”
TBH says:
Richarlison deserves all the praise he can get.
His resilience and determination have made him a fan favorite at Tottenham, breaking stereotypes and demonstrating the importance of seeking help when needed.
