“I know most fans don’t love me anymore but…….”: Harry Kane sent an emotional response to Spurs critics as he’s now doing Tottenham a HUGE favor in race for BEST-VALUE striker around [Full story link in comment]
Harry Kane could scupper Bayern Munich’s attempts to sign Serhou Guirassy this summer, according to reports. Manchester United and Tottenham are among the other teams keeping tabs on the forward, who has suitors lining up for his services due to a bargain release clause in his Stuttgart contract.
Guirassy has scored at a remarkable rate this season, boasting 17 goals in only 15 league appearances. Despite recently missing a handful of games while at the Africa Cup of Nations, the 27-year-old remains second-top-scorer in the Bundesliga behind Kane.
According to Bild, Bayern are planning to bid for him in the summer for fear of missing out on a good deal. Guirassy’s £17million release clause, combined with his staggering strike rate, make him one of the best-value strikers in Europe.
However, the one element that could scupper his move to the Allianz Arena is the presence of Kane, who would be virtually impossible to displace at the top end of the pitch.
With 24 goals in 21 league games, Kane has hit the ground running in his debut season and any striker Bayern sign would surely have to settle for playing second fiddle to the England captain.
The presence of Kane at Bayern therefore comes as a major boost for Spurs and United in their quest to win the race for Guirassy. AC Milan, Newcastle United and West Ham are also rumoured to be keen on the in-form frontman.
Tottenham went into this season under new manager Ange Postecoglou without signing a direct replacement for Kane, who joined Bayern last summer. And now their record goal-scorer could play an important role in Spurs landing his successor, by putting him off a move to Bavaria.
It was reported during the summer that Guirassy would favour a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over Old Trafford. United splashed out on £72m Rasmus Hojlund back in August and he is now beginning to hit his stride.
Spurs, meanwhile, have a vacancy to be filled. Richarlison and Son Heung-min have each found success this campaign, but neither player could be classed in the same out-and-out-striker category as Kane or Guirassy.
The Guinea international is a late bloomer, having spent years putting up modest numbers in France and Germany. With 19 goals in all competitions, this is already the best goal-scoring season of Guirassy’s career by a wide margin.
