Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has cleaned house at Spurs since taking the reins in the summer.
The performances, the results, the transfer business, the man-management – Postecoglou has done well in all of these things at Tottenham.
One of the most notable improvements has come in the form of Yves Bissouma‘s return to form since the Australian took the Spurs reins.
The 27-year-old joined Tottenham in the summer of 2022 for around £25million to much fanfare, but his maiden season at Spurs didn’t quite go to plan.
Previous manager Antonio Conte didn’t give Bissouma much game time and, come the new season, the Mali international seemed to face an uncertain future at Tottenham.
However, Bissouma worked hard in pre-season and, under Postecoglou, he is now showing the form and quality that made him such a highly sought-after player at Brighton.
Tim Sherwood, speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, lauded the work Postecoglou had done and discussed Bissouma’s return to form as one such example.
“Even Bissouma, who everyone before (would’ve thought): ‘What’s he doing? Nothing’,” said Sherwood on the subject of standout Spurs players.
“You know, (at) Brighton he was a great player, all of a sudden he comes to Tottenham, done nothing.
“When Ange got in there… just let him play, just played to his strengths.”
Yves Bissouma and Ange Postecoglou deserve credit at Tottenham
Credit to Bissouma for working so hard to get back on track after a difficult maiden season at Spurs.
And credit also to Postecoglou for building the foundations that have helped the midfielder get back to his best.
Postecoglou has shown the Midas touch for most of his time at Tottenham, and no doubt there’ll be more to come.
