“Accoding to stats, he’s a better finisher than Harry Kane”: Journalist claims striker Tottenham reportedly wants to sign has high goal conversion rate than Harry Kane [Full story link in comment]

Tottenham Hotspur target Hwang Hee-chan boasts impressive finishing stats during his time in the Premier League.

Spurs were linked with a move for the Wolves forward over the summer and Tottenham fans would have been forgiven for being underwhelmed at the time.

Hwang managed just eight goals in his first two seasons in England. But he’s enjoying a real coming-of-age campaign at Molineux this time around.

Indeed, the South Korean star is already enjoying his best-ever season in England’s top flight and has netted 10 goals.

Now, Sky Sports has shared a statistic which places Hwang above former Spurs star Harry Kane when it comes to finishing.

Hwang is statistically a better finisher than Kane

Jamie Carragher was joined by former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch on Monday Night Football and the duo looked at the best finishers in the Premier League.

The list takes into account players who have scored more than 12 goals since the start of last season.

During this period, Taiwo Awoniyi boasts the best conversion rate as he’s netted 28.6 per cent of his chances.

Hwang sits third on the list, having netted 13 times with a conversion rate of 24.1 per cent.

This places him over Kane, who has bagged 30 goals with a shot conversion of 23.1 per cent.

The statistics indicate that since the start of last season, Hwang has finished his chances more frequently than Kane.

But you only have to look at the number of goals each player has scored to learn that Kane is by far the superior goalscorer. That could be down to the number of chances Hwang is presented at Wolves.

Nevertheless, the stats would indicate that Hwang is a capable finisher when presented with opportunities.

The £14 million man has impressed under Gary O’Neil this season and it will be intriguing to see if Spurs revisit their interest in the 28-year-old.

Of course, Ange Postecoglou’s men have also been linked with a move for his teammate Pedro Neto. But they will face stern competition for the Portuguese star’s signature.
