Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley is continuing to impress at youth level, and he has caught Ange Postecoglou’s eye now.

Spurs fans have a lot to be excited about. They have a solid squad right now, their recruitment has been really good, and unlike previous years, many youngsters in the Tottenham academy are showing immense potential. Donley is one of them.

Alasdair Gold says Ange Postecoglou really trusts Jamie Donley at Tottenham

Jamie Donley joined Tottenham’s academy when he was just eight years old.

The youngster came through the ranks at Spurs and has impressed at every level in the academy. He is viewed by many as a massive talent who can become a star in the future.

Donley has six goals and 12 assists for Tottenham’s U21s this season. He has been incredible and is perhaps just too good for that level now.

Alasdair Gold shares a similar opinion about young Donley, and he has claimed that Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou ‘trusts’ the teenager after noticing his performances.

Speaking on The Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, the journalist said: “In Jamie Donley, they have a player who’s at that stage where he’s probably too good for the U21s. He’s right on the edge of ‘it almost looks too easy for him’.

“But, we’ve said a million times, the Premier League is a huge, huge step on top of that. So, just because he’s amazing at that doesn’t mean he walks into the team on a Saturday for Postecoglou.

“But, he’s certainly getting noticed by the first team. (If he didn’t) he wouldn’t have three appearances in the Premier League, one in the FA Cupthis season and Ange throwing him in in some big moments. He trusts him!”

The 18-year-old can play up front, as a second striker and also as a number 10. He can drop into a box-to-box role in midfield and play on the right flank too.

Behind the scenes at Tottenham, many feel Donley has the ‘aura and confidence‘ that Spurs star James Maddison possesses. The two are fairly similar players.

It will be interesting to see how Donley will develop in the coming years, but we’re convinced he will make it at the top level.
