Richarlison has shared what he feels are the big differences between Harry Kane and Heung-min Son as Tottenham Hotspur captains.

Heung-min Son was handed the armband at Tottenham last summer after Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich.

While Kane was never officially named as Spurs skipper, he wore the armband during the second half of the 2022-23 campaign after Hugo Lloris lost his place in the side.

The former Spurs star also led Ange Postecoglou‘s side out during pre-season before securing a switch to Munich.

It’s fair to say that Son has stepped up to his role as captain brilliantly, with Tottenham currently battling it out for a top-four finish.

Now, Richarlison has been discussing what he feels is different between Kane and Son’s leadership styles.

The difference between Kane and Son as captains

Both Richarlison and Emerson Royal have been speaking to Football.London about Son.

“Man tries to speak Portuguese, tries to speak Spanish,” Emerson said. “I say that he is very similar to us Brazilians, like his self-esteem, his way of living life.

“He’s a buddy. I really like him. Now he’s our captain. So now that he’s even more, he took on that responsibility even more.”

“He guides yes, not as much as Harry Kane but he talks quite a bit,” Richarlison added.

“Of course, he has a big responsibility too because he’s been with Tottenham for many years. So he’s also the guy who has to take on responsibility with us.”

It’s no surprise to hear that Son has stepped up to the responsibility of being named as Tottenham’s skipper.

The forward also wears the armband for South Korea and felt like the most natural choice after Kane’s departure.

While it was a huge blow for Spurs to lose Kane, they’ve rallied behind Postecoglou and Son since his exit.
