In truth, there was very little reason to feel positive from a Tottenham Hotspur perspective following full time at Fulham yesterday.
Ange Postecoglou’s team looked unrecognisable from their confident display away at Villa Park last week when they took firm initiative in the race for fourth.
It would be too simplistic to simply blame the absence of Micky van de Ven, even if the game did perhaps demonstrate his crucial role already.
Radu Dragusin struggled to impress, often beaten by Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz who was clearly in much better rhythm, a player with a lot more match sharpness.
Dragusin did show some positive signs of his ability, but he clearly does need a run of games to find his feet, which is somewhat understandable.
That being said, his centre-back partner Cristian Romero did still deliver an excellent display despite losing 3-0.
Romero was brilliant in his work for Tottenham, and certainly didn’t deserve to be on the losing side against Fulham yesterday.
The £47m-defender was handed a 7.8/10 for his display by Sofascore and boasted some incredibly impressive individual numbers.

Romero won 12 duels in total, compared to Dragusin’s four to provide some context.
The Argentinian also produced four clearances, three interceptions and three tackles – he wasn’t going down without a fight.
And the defender was pretty impressive with the ball at his feet as usual too, producing one key pass and a 92% pass success rate.
So whilst it may be pretty difficult for Tottenham fans to find positives from the heavy defeat against Fulham yesterday, perhaps Romero’s display will provide a small bit of joy.
Furthermore, this was previously the kind of game which often saw Romero loss his head too, a frustrating afternoon in which his ill-discipline may appear.
But Romero is now recognisable as a leader in this team, a player who is clearly making an effort to stop being embroiled in such shenanigans.
And if fans came away from yesterday’s game realising Micky van de Ven’s importance, the same could definitely be said for Cristian Romero.
