Tottenham are actually unsure about keeping one player in north London for next season.

It was Fabrizio Romano who provided the information.

Spurs are currently assessing their squad ahead of the summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou‘s first season in charge draws to a close – although there are doubts about keeping someone the Australian actually called a “quality” footballer .

So, who is the player Tottenham are unsure about keeping? Let’s take a look…

Tottenham unsure about keeping Timo Werner

Well, Tottenham are yet to make a decision on Timo Werner.

Spurs signed the German on loan from RB Leipzig back in January – and also agreed an option to make the deal permanent this summer for just €17m (£15m).

However – according to Romano – Tottenham are still unsure about Werner.

The reliable Italian journalist wrote: “Timo Werner, happy at Tottenham and open to stay at the club beyond this season… but no decision has been made yet. Spurs will take their time to decide on Werner and more situations ahead of next season. Buy option clause: €17m (£15m).”

In eight Premier League appearances, the Germany international has scored two goals while also providing two assists for Spurs.

Finishing is a problem

In our view, if Tottenham have a fairly sizeable budget this summer, a £15m deal for someone as experienced as Werner would be an excellent move in terms of providing squad depth.

However, we can understand why Spurs are feeling hesitant over the 28-year-old right now.

Werner has already shown signs of the poor finishing which saw him ridiculed at Chelsea.

Ben Foster was shocked by one miss in particular during the 3-0 defeat to Fulham, while James Maddison was also seen becoming annoyed at the Tottenham No.16 for not getting himself inside the box in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Werner obviously has talent and his speed helps to stretch defences, although it seems the man from Stuttgart will have to step things up a little bit if he wants to stay at Tottenham.
