Paul Merson makes really bold three-goal West Ham vs Tottenham prediction.
West Ham United play host to Tottenham in the Premier League tonight and Paul Merson has made his prediction for the game.
The Premier League clash between West Ham and Tottenham is an eagerly anticipated one between both sets of fans, and the Paul Merson prediction may well raise some eyebrows.
The rivalry between the Hammers and Spurs is a really big one – in fact, James Ward-Prowse has admitted that he didn’t realise just how fierce it was until he joined the club.
David Moyes will be desperate for all three points tonight, after his side’s capitulation up at Newcastle on Saturday.
However, the Scot will be without Edson Alvarez through suspension and Alphonse Areola due to an injury he picked up three days ago.
It seems as though Nayef Aguerd could miss out for the home side through injury as well – he will be assessed later today.
I think we’ve actually got a chance of beating Spurs if we take the game to them, but what way does Merson see the game going?
Paul Merson makes West Ham vs Tottenham prediction
The Hammers need a big performance tonight. Moyes made a poor in-game decision up at St James’ Park, but the players really let themselves down in the final 15 minutes of the match.
The clash with Spurs represents the ideal opportunity for us to bounce back – it’s a game that the players need no extra motivation for.
And Paul Merson predicted the outcome of the contest, when writing his regular column for Sportskeeda:
“Tottenham are becoming a bag of revels. They were excellent against Villa before they got slaughtered by Fulham, and they stumbled over the line against Luton. They could win or lose this game by a 3-0 margin, and you wouldn’t flinch either way. They’re getting back to the Tottenham of old – their inconsistency could hurt them. Kalvin Phillips could’ve stayed and Man City, and he would’ve gone to the Euros. I don’t see him at the tournament at all now, with Mainoo coming through as well. He’s gone out on loan and he isn’t able to get a game – I do feel sorry for him. This is one of the biggest games of West Ham’s season, and the fans will back them this week. West Ham are playing at home and could pull off a victory this week.”
Prediction West Ham 2-1 Tottenham
I have to say, that’s a really bold prediction from Merson. I obviously hope he’s spot on, but I’m too scarred from Saturday to believe we can beat Tottenham right now!
The thing is, Moyes’s men have to get three points tonight, if we’re to have any chance of finishing inside the top seven this season.
Spurs are definitely a side who can be got at, so let’s just hope that Moyes sets up his side to take the game to the visitors tonight.
I’m praying that the West Ham 2-1 Tottenham Paul Merson prediction turns out to be spot on. There would be nothing better for our season than picking up a huge result against our bitter London rivals tonight.
