NOW CONFIRMED – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg transfer decision made after what he did on Sunday [Full Story Link in Comment]

Bryan King believes Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will still leave Tottenham this summer despite the “impressive” impact he made against Nottingham Forest.

The ex-Spurs scout believes Hojbjerg will want to play first-team football regularly and could therefore push to leave the club this summer.

Hojbjerg was brought on alongside Rodrigo Bentancur at half-time against Forest on Sunday (7 April) with the score level at 1-1, and Ange Postecoglou’s midfield shuffle worked wonders as Tottenham would go on to score twice in the second half and seal all three points.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this won’t do much to change any transfer plans regarding the Denmark international.

“I think his cameo appearance against Forest was beneficial, he was impressive.

“But Hojbjerg wants regular first-team football, I think he wants to start every game, and I am not sure whether Postecoglou can offer him that at Tottenham.

“As long as he plays like he did against Forest, there will certainly be Premier League clubs interested in him.”

Will Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg quit Tottenham and life under Ange Postecoglou this summer?

Hojbjerg proved against Forest that there is a place for him in Postecoglou’s squad, even if it is not as a regular starter.

However, after spending most of his career as a consistent first-team player, the 28-year-old won’t want to spend another season sitting on the bench.

There will be plenty of clubs happy to sign Hojbjerg, and Tottenham must now decide what is next for the Dane.

His contract will enter its final 12 months in June, and if Hojbjerg isn’t going to sign a new deal, he should be sold before next season starts so Tottenham can avoid losing him for free.
