John Wenham claims Tottenham will only sign Albert Gudmundsson if they opt not to make Timo Werner’s loan switch permanent.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes that the club will wait until the end of the season to make a transfer decision on both players.
Tottenham have shown a “considerable interest” in Genoa star Gudmundsson (via Football London, 24 March), but face competition from Inter Milan and Juventus for the forward’s signature.
Daniel Levy could look to land the Iceland international by offering Djed Spence as part of any potential deal, with the full-back already on loan with Genoa (via Inter Live, 4 April).
Meanwhile, Werner would be keen to make his stay in North London permanent and is waiting for the club to decide on his future (via Fabrizio Romano, 8 April).
Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that only one of the two players will join the club this summer.
He said: “This is a link that seems to keep reappearing, but I don’t think Tottenham will decide on Gudmundsson until the end of the season.
“It all depends on how well Werner gets on, that will determine whether or not we sign Gudmundsson.
“I am sure he is on the list, but there is no rush for Tottenham to make any decision right now.
“They will likely see how the team gets on between now and June and then decide what their transfer plans are in the wide areas.”

With Spurs able to sign Werner for a fee of around £14.5million, and Gudmundsson reportedly available for somewhere between £21million and £25million (via Fabrizio Romano, 28 March), there is no reason why Spurs should only sign one of the two players.
