“Forget about players poor play, it happens but take a look at Ange….”: Jamie Redknapp throws brutal dig at Ange Postecoglou after Chelsea loss as he spots something unusual about Ange and his tactics [Full story link in comment]

Tottenham limped to another miserable defeat last night at Chelsea and Jamie Redknapp has a major concern about his former side.

Ange Postecoglou is starting to cut a frustrated figure and it showed at times on the touchline as he lamented some of his players throughout the tie.

In the end, goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson ensured Chelsea saw off Spurs to continue their fine record against them at Stamford Bridge in recent times.

And for Jamie Redknapp, who played for Tottenham in the 2000s, there was something ‘pretty damning’ about watching Spurs last night.

Jamie Redknapp has major Tottenham concern involving Ange Postecoglou

Redknapp was analysing the game for Sky Sports last night and like many a Tottenham fan, was a frustrated figure.

But while the loss was one thing, the performance and mannerisms on display were another matter entirely.

And speaking about Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou, Redknapp shared a big worry.

“They have won two out of their last seven since they beat Aston Villa in one of the best performances I have seen this season. The other thing that really worries me is that they have only played 37 games this year. They lost in the Carabao Cup second round and the FA Cup fourth round,” Redknapp said.

“There is no fatigue involved. If you put that into context Aston Villa have played 52 games and still look so fresh. For Tottenham right now I look at the manager and he looks beaten. That’s pretty damning, I don’t like to see a manager like that. I do think there are a lot of managers who when you manage Tottenham a lot of them get like that after a while.”

Postecoglou losing his sparkle?

It was all flowers and roses at the start of the season as Tottenham were pushing well into the top few positions and making a habit of scoring late winners.

Now, only eight months down the line, Tottenham look like they’ve been found out and their manager is losing his smile a bit.

Postecoglou was clearly annoyed last night and his interview with Sky afterwards showed he was in no mood for a chinwag about the game.

But he is a Premier League manager and ultimately, it’s part of the job to front up, show a bit about you, and get the troops going again.

Last night he looked like a defeated man. Whether or not that means he’s simply had enough of seeing the same things happen, we don’t know.

Tottenham are in for a big summer though and on last night’s evidence, they need plenty of new players.
