Yankuba Minteh was Newcastle United’s first summer signing last year but has yet to have even trained with the Magpies.
Instead, Minteh was immediately loaned out to last season’s Eredivisie champions, Feyenoord where he’s gone on to have a brilliant campaign, lifting the KNVB Cup this season under manager Arne Slot.
However, despite the club and the player both indicating that they’d be happy to extend the loan into another season, it’s still unclear what Newcastle plan to do with Minteh.
It is expected that Eddie Howe will want to see him for himself in pre-season training and likely see what he can do in a couple of friendlies, but as for where Minteh will play football next season, that’s still up in the air.

There is now an extra layer of complication with Arne Slot looking likely to be Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Liverpool next season.
Slot played a huge part in Minteh’s development this season and now Newcastle are ‘seeking answers’ on whether the club and indeed the player would still want the loan to go ahead despite Slot’s departure.
According to Chris Waugh in his weekly Q&A for The Athletic, the relationship between the two clubs is strong and while Slot was involved in the recruitment of Minteh, the relationship extends beyond him.

There was even a brief mention by TalkSPORT that Slot would be keen to take Minteh to Liverpool, but there’s no way Newcastle would allow that to happen.
