Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has laughed off reports he has agreed to join Newcastle United this summer.

Ramsdale lost his starting spot in the early weeks of the season following the arrival of David Raya, whose loan from Brentford is due to be made permanent this summer.

With another season on the Arsenal bench looming, a number of clubs are understood to be keen on landing Ramsdale in the coming months, with Newcastle regularly linked with the 26-year-old’s signature.

It was even reported on Friday that Ramsdale had reached an agreement to move to St James’ Park, but the goalkeeper quickly took to social media to shoot the rumours down.

“News to me,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a laughing face.

The Telegraph state that Newcastle are looking to seal a £15m move for Ramsdale, who 90min understands is aware he cannot afford to spend another season sat on the sidelines.

Chelsea, who are often linked with a move for Ramsdale, are not expected to pursue the England international, while it remains to be seen whether West Ham United act on their interest following David Moyes’ departure at the end of the season.

Ramsdale may also be offered the chance to take his talents to mainland Europe but is believed to prefer remaining in the Premier League.

The guarantee of regular minutes will be key to Ramsdale’s decision as he seeks to make up the lost ground on his battle for England minutes with Everton’s Jordan Pickford.
