PRE-SEASON TWIST: Tottenham to Make Millions as Son Heung-Min’s Decision Sends Shockwaves!
Tottenham are set to earn “millions” after announcing they will return to South Korea for a pre-season tour this summer, according to Dan Plumley.
The club announced they will travel for a game against Bayern Munich in the Coupang Play Series, returning to the country following a successful trip in 2022. They will also be travelling to Japan this summer as part of their tour of Asia.
The tour is expected to generate “in the millions” for the club’s revenue, and football finance expert Plumley believes their decision is partly driven by the fact they have superstars like Son Heung-Min in their squad to help generate as much as possible.
“They’re racking up the miles post-season and pre-season already, aren’t they?” he exclusively told Tottenham News.
“You’ve got the synergies across the board there with the areas that they’re targeting and this one in particular with the pre-season tour in that region, and Son named as the captain, it’s absolutely driven around a marketing and PR campaign and the leverage you can bring with that.
“We know that the games will generate, you’re talking in the millions for these pre-season tours now, and then how can you leverage that from the fan base that you’ve got over there and use the players that you’ve got. It’s par for the course nowadays and it absolutely stands to reason.
“Yes there is the playing side of that as well, and flying these players all over the world, but from a business point of view you can see why Spurs are targeting this and going in with this line with Son as captain as well.”
Tottenham must use their resources to their maximum potential
Tottenham are trying to become one of the global forces in football financially, and to do that they simply must use all the resources they have to get as far as they can.
There arguably has ever been a bigger figure in the sport in the continent of Asia than Son, and he is without a doubt a legend in N17. But he won’t be there forever, so Spurs need to cash in on his presence while they can.
It’s a similar situation with Ange Postecoglou and the post-season tour to Australia, where he is one of the most influential figures there an would attract extra attention.
A pre-season tour is quite normal in pre-season, and it’s a chance for a group of fans to see their heroes where they usually wouldn’t.
It makes plenty of sense and with players travelling in first-class and in five-star hotels they won’t be in any sort of discomfort, so Tottenham should be cashing in as much as they can.
