Serge Gnabry’s stance on joining Newcastle United
Serge Gnabry is one of the biggest names in German football.
The former Arsenal man is one of Bayern Munich’s highest-paid players, and his quality has been evident for many years in the Bundesliga.
However, after a difficult season in which he suffered multiple injuries, Gnabry’s future at Bayern Munich has been up in the air.
That led to rumours about his future, and reports claimed that Newcastle United could launch a £40 million bid to sign Gnabry this summer.
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has now shared the latest on the situation.
The journalist has revealed that Newcastle definitely like Gnabry but the Germany international has absolutely no interest in making a move to St James’ Park.
Gnabry wants to stay at Bayern this summer.
Plettenberg tweeted: “Rumors about a possible transfer of Serge Gnabry to NUFC are wide of mark.
“Newcastle are interested but Gnabry won’t join #NUFC.… and the 29 y/o still has no intention of leaving FC Bayern as he wants to stay. Contract valid until 2026.”
Who Newcastle could try to sign instead of Gnabry
Signing a player of Gnabry’s quality would’ve been fantastic for Newcastle, but unfortunately for them, that deal looks impossible now.
The Magpies, however, still need reinforcements in the wide areas in this window and they have been linked with multiple names.
One Newcastle target is Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville. That’s according to Ben Jacobs, who has revealed that Newcastle United are interested in signing him this summer
However, the Toon face strong competition from Chelsea and Brighton.
Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “There is interest in him (Summerville). We know Brighton have taken a look. We know that he could still be on Chelsea’s radar. Newcastle are also interested in the player.
“So it will still be a big surprise if between now and the end of the window, given how many clubs want players in his position, it will be a surprise if somebody doesn’t make a formal offer for Summerville.”
