Tottenham Hotspur went down 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the final match of their pre-season tour of Asia and here are our player ratings from the second half.
Ange Postecoglou had handed Djed Spence his first start of pre-season, albeit asking the right-back to play on the left, and he was involved in an early mix-up with Guglielmo Vicario, with the Tottenham goalkeeper under-hitting a pass to the full-back and it was cut out in the Spurs box before Gabriel Vidovic volleyed it through the legs of the Italian.
Leon Goretzka doubled Bayern’s lead after his first shot was saved by Vicario but he poked home the follow-up. Spurs grabbed a goal back though with a powerful effort from Pedro Porro that flew past the keeper.
Here are our Tottenham player ratings from the second half as they suffered their first defeat of pre-season.
Guglielmo Vicario
Was unfortunate with the second goal, his first save poked back in by Goretza. A decent second half showing from the Italian until he came off as he’d made a good save before that goal. 6
Pedro Porro
Scored a lovely goal to get Tottenham back into the game, driving forward and smashing a shot past the keeper from outside the box. Played longer than anyone else in a Spurs shirt and worked hard. 8
Emerson Royal
Still continues to give his all for the club despite the links to Milan and he did well in the central role on the whole. 7
Ben Davies
Didn’t do much wrong in the centre-back role again. 6
Djed Spence
After that mixed first half, he tried to drive on in the second and created an attack that led to Kulusevski firing just wide. 7.
Pape Matar Sarr
Another hard-working performance in the second half before coming off. Was denied by the keeper after having to dig out a shot with Son’s ball in front of him. 7
Yves Bissouma
Brought a bit of calm to the midfield and got the assist for Porro’s goal. 7
Lucas Bergvall
A very positive performance from the young Swede, with creativity and workrate and he should have scored with a chance he created. 8
Brennan Johnson
Some loose touches and he took a whack halfway through his time in the half which left him hobbling for a while. 4
Dejan Kulusevski
Incredible stamina even when he looks tired. Sent a chance just wide in the half and made one great chase back and interception later on. 7
Son Heung-min
Gave his all down the left even though he was clearly tired, which showed in a pass to Sarr when Spurs broke up the pitch. 6.
Subs
Oliver Skipp
Came on in the centre of defence and did well again. 6
Alfie Devine
Another really promising display from the young midfielder who dictated much of the tempo with Bergvall. 8
Jamie Donley
Replaced Spence and other than one early mishit pass, he didn’t do much wrong. 6
Timo Werner
Caused some problems but without the quality required. 5
Will Lankshear
Worked hard up top and put himself about around the penalty area. 6
Mikey Moore
Another bright little cameo, again coming on ahead of Solomon. 6
Brandon Austin
Made some really good saves as the half wore on. 8
George Abbott
Replaced Porro for the end stages of the game and did well. 6.
