Β£165,000 per week star offers update on Tottenham future; outlines his βmissionβ
Tottenham defender Cristian Romero has dismissed exit links
Cristian Romero has played down transfer talk, admitting he wants to βwin a titleβ at Tottenham Hotspur next season.
The central defender enjoyed another fantastic summer with the Argentina national team. After lifting the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he played a pivotal role in helping Argentina win the Copa America by beating Colombia 1-0 in the final in the United States.
Following a long and tiring season with both club and country, Cristian Romero has gone for vacations as he looks to recharge his batteries for the upcoming gruelling 2024/25 campaign. In June, the 26-year-old was linked with a move to European champions Real Madrid. While the rumours didnβt develop much, Romero has gone on record to pledge his commitment to Tottenham and is focused on winning a title with his club in the upcoming season.

When asked about leaving Tottenham, Romero told ESPN Argentina, relayed by Fabrizio Romano: βI donβt think about other clubs! I respect Tottenham a lotβ.
βThey always gave me a lot of affection, so I like to play here at Spurs. Letβs hope that this year we can win a title, itβs my missionβ.
As reflected in his latest interview, Romeroβs commitment and love for Tottenham should please the fans. He currently earns Β£165,000 per week at the club. The Argentinean built a strong central defensive partnership with Micky van de Ven last season, as Ange Postecoglou managed to successfully employ a high defensive line in his debut term as Spurs gaffer.
Strong, uncompromising and aggressive, both the central defenders are key to how Spurs want to play under Postecoglou. It wouldnβt be a stretch to term them as one of the best centre-back pairings in the Premier League, with Romero the leader of the pack.
Quick, tenacious and always competing by wearing the heart of his sleeve, Romero is undoubtedly Spursβ best defender and it isnβt surprising to see him being tentatively linked with Real Madrid. The 26-year-old has got a taste of winning trophies with his nation and now wants to win a title or two with his club.
The Argentina internationalβs recent statements are a call to Spurs top officials to recruit well in the ongoing transfer window to help the coach build a strong squad for the upcoming season. He will not want to go without silverware every season in north London and has indirectly asked our club to show more ambition.
