There’s been plenty of talk around Newcastle and Anthony Gordon this summer but the club could sign one of his international teammates if he does leave.
Gordon is being linked with a move to Liverpool and those links don’t seem to be going away as we enter the final few weeks of the window.
There is a belief that Gordon would welcome a move back to Merseyside and while Newcastle want £100m for their man, business could be done.
Of course, that leaves Newcastle looking for a replacement in a tricky market.
However, according to The Sun, the Mags could end up moving for one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League to replace Gordon.
Newcastle may go for Eberechi Eze if they decide to sell Anthony Gordon to Liverpool
According to a report from The Sun, Gordon’s move to Liverpool could trigger a potential knock-on effect.
It’s reported how Crystal Palace are keeping an eye on Gordon’s situation as they feel that could see Newcastle make a move for their star man, Eberechi Eze.
As we know, the ‘unstoppable‘ Eze has plenty of interest anyway and has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.
However, as yet, Spurs have not made a move and there is a reluctance from Daniel Levy to pay the full £60m+ release-clause that sees Eze move.
Naturally, should Newcastle land their asking price for Gordon, that frees up the money for them go and land the former QPR star.
Eze could thrive under Eddie Howe
While he’s a different player to Anthony Gordon in terms of dynamism and pace, there is no doubting Ebere Eze’s ability.
And under Eddie Howe, who prides himself on coaching and doing the business on the training pitch, he could flourish further.
Eze has had a superb few years that culminated in him being part of England’s losing effort in the Euros.
A move to Newcastle would be a long way from home for the Palace star but the Mags are a team on the up and with big wages also available, it’s a tempting one.
