CHELSEA’S INJURY WOES WORSEN! Two Players Sidelines, Three More Questionable for Inter Milan and Ahead of The New Season

Chelsea are back in action at Stamford Bridge almost three months after their last game there.

Chelsea are sweating over the fitness of skipper Reece James ahead of their final pre-season game against Inter Milan today. According to The Athletic, the defender has struggled with a hamstring injury this week and has been ruled out of the game against Inter Milan today.

James missed large portions of last season after undergoing surgery to address a recurrent hamstring problem, so the latest news will be a massive blow to manager Enzo Maresca, who has involved his captain in all the pre-season games so far.

LondonWorld sources have revealed that James is likely to return in time for league games in mid-September, but Chelsea will be quite cautious with their captain given his hamstring history. Another player who has been ruled out of the game is last season’s first-choice goalkeeper, Djordje Petrovic, who was left behind in Cobham when the team travelled to America.

The initial communication was that he had picked up a minor injury and would join the team later, but he never did. Since then, the club has signed Filip Jorgensen, who is expected to start in goal today.

Other players who are doubtful for the game include Nicolas Jackson, who is dealing with a sprained ankle, while Cole Palmer and Marc Cucurella might miss out due to a lack of match fitness following their return from Euro 2024.

Chelsea have won only one of their five pre-season games and will face a stern test against Inter Milan, the current Italian champions, who will be competing in the Champions League this season. This will also be the first time Enzo Maresca leads his side out at Stamford Bridge since being appointed in the summer.
