Newcastle United have made four additions so far this summer transfer window and they’re desperately trying to bring in a fourth.
Eddie Howe is eager to add another centre-back to his ranks with Sven Botman still sidelined through injury.
Newcastle are in talks to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi but that deal is becoming increasingly more expensive.
It seems they’ve now turned their attention to a defender on the continent…
TBR reported on Tuesday that Newcastle had made contact to sign Logan Costa .
Now, two days later, the deal seems to be advancing as Bologna have just ended their pursuit of the Toulouse centre-back, according to Il Resto del Carlino, via Tutto Bologna.
Newcastle are yet to make an official offer following an initial enquiry but Toulouse and hoping their interest is genuine. The Ligue 1 club are hoping to receive £21.4m, which is certainly an achievable fee for The Magpies, who have just lodged a £60m offer for Marc Guehi.
Newcastle should persist for Marc Guehi
Newcastle should go all out to sign Guehi, even if it means outlaying around £70m for his signature.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and has brilliant leadership qualities.
The Palace skipper would certainly take Howe’s side up a level and his arrival would put rival Premier League clubs on red alert.
If a move for Guehi fails to materialise, Newcastle could move to sign Joachim Anderson – his teammate.
