Top player could be in danger of contract termination after controversial video. 🗣️Big blow for spurs

Tottenham Hotspur’s defensive midfielder Yves Bissouma finds himself at a crossroads, with his future at the club now under serious scrutiny following a recent controversy.

The 27-year-old Mali international, who joined Tottenham in the summer of 2022, has been an important player for the team, but a recent off-field incident has cast a shadow over his standing within the squad.

The controversy began just days before the start of the new Premier League season when a video surfaced showing Bissouma inhaling nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas.”

The incident quickly sparked outrage among fans and pundits alike, leading to widespread criticism of the midfielder. Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Bissouma issued a public apology, admitting to a “severe lack of judgment” and expressing regret for his actions.

Tottenham’s head coach, Ange Postecoglou, responded swiftly by suspending Bissouma from the team’s opening match of the season.

Postecoglou, known for his strict disciplinary approach, made it clear that Bissouma would need to work hard to regain the trust of both his manager and his teammates.

The Spurs boss emphasized the importance of accountability and professionalism, suggesting that while Bissouma had made a mistake, the door remained open for him to redeem himself.

Journalist says Yves Bissouma might leave Tottenham after video incident

Despite the suspension, Bissouma remains a highly talented player, and his potential availability on the transfer market has not gone unnoticed.

According to reports, including comments from journalist Josh Hughes on The Spurs Chat Podcast, there could be significant interest in Bissouma should Tottenham decide to part ways with the midfielder.

Hughes noted that quality defensive midfielders are in high demand, and Bissouma’s skill set could attract interest from several top clubs.

“Bissouma could be one that goes now,” Hughes remarked. “There aren’t a huge number of good players in that defensive midfield position, and I think there would be a lot of takers for him if Tottenham decides to sell.”

Last season, Bissouma was a key figure in Postecoglou’s plans, making 28 Premier League appearances and forming a solid partnership with Pape Matar Sarr in the midfield.

He got a lot of praise from both fans and the coaching staff for his performances. But now, with his recent actions, his spot on the team is in jeopardy, and his future at Tottenham is up in the air
