🗣️Fabrizio romano gives latest update on Tottenham Hotspur £30m transfer target.

Tottenham are ready to step up their interest in Brentford striker Ivan Toney, talkSPORT understands.

Toney is in the last year of his contract and Brentford could be willing to accept a bid as low as £30m. The England international has made it clear he is not willing to sign a new contract with the Bees at this stage.

He has indicated he would let his Brentford contract run down if he does not make a move this summer, which would leave him a free agent at the end of next season.

But Tottenham have made no secret of their search for a new forward and the 28-year-old could fit their criteria.Toney has been at Brentford since 2020, and has scored 72 goals in 141 appearances across all competitions in that time.

He also impressed with England at Euro 2024 over the summer, delighting fans with his distinctive ‘no look’ penalty technique. He also assisted Harry Kane’s winning goal against Slovakia in the round of 16.

And Ange Postecoglou is looking for a player who can make things happen up front on a consistent basis, with his side having finished fifth in the Premier League last season.

As talkSPORT reported earlier this week, Spurs hope to sell Richarlison to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli to fund their search for a new number 9.

While he scored 11 Premier League goals last season, the Brazilian struggled with injuries particularly in the latter half of the season.

He played just 141 minutes of football from mid-February onwards and is increasingly likely to be offloaded to fund Spurs’ other pursuits.Spurs have conducted some business so far this transfer window, including signing Leeds midfielder Archie Gray for a reported £35 million.

He’s been with Brentford since 2020, helping them to a first-ever appearance in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season.

Thomas Frank’s side struggled for large parts of last season with Toney serving a ban during the first half of it.

Toney started his career with hometown club Northampton Town but earned himself a move to the Premier League with Newcastle in the summer of 2015 aged 19.
