NEWCASTLE CONSIDERING SHOCK TRANSFER AS RESPECTED JOURNALIST SAYS THERE’S A ‘REAL CHANCE’ IT COULD HAPPEN

Newcastle United had an interesting summer transfer window, with most fans likely disappointed with how the market closed.

The Magpies were strongly linked with a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, yet Newcastle were unable to reach an agreement with the Eagles for the England international despite putting up a club-record offer.

With Newcastle also linked with Mario Hermoso, the Toon were unable to bring in a defender in the final moments of the transfer window, with Eddie Howe’s side also linked with a move for Adrien Rabiot, who left Juventus as a free agent this summer.

And the midfielder has now given Newcastle hope over a potential deal.

Adrien Rabiot rejects AC Milan after Newcastle interest

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the France international has turned down a contract offer from AC Milan, with Rabiot still a free agent and without a club despite being one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Lauded as ‘world-class’, Rabiot has been a top performer for club and country in the last two years, with the midfielder a regular for France at this summer’s Euros alongside N’Golo Kante in the centre of the park.

And for Newcastle, Rabiot could be a dream midfield signing with the new season underway, with the Magpies having big aspirations of qualifying for Europe and maybe even pushing for a UEFA Champions League spot.

Indeed, Rabiot rejecting Milan could hint towards the former PSG star having a transfer plan in mind, yet Newcastle have nothing to lose if they come in with an offer of their own in the coming days.

Rabiot could fancy Premier League challenge with Newcastle

Rabiot is a champion in both France and Italy with the midfielder having one of the biggest and best trophy cabinets out of any active player in Europe, and the Premier League could be tempting.

Whilst Newcastle aren’t ready to go for the title just yet, signing a player like Rabiot would push the Toon forward a year or two in their ultimate goal to win the Premier League.

And for Rabiot, the midfielder could be tempted with a move to Tyneside given their ambition and project, with the France international the sort of superstar signing Newcastle fans have been expecting.
