GUIMARAES GUNFIRE! Chris Sutton Takes AIM at Newcastle’s Brazilian Superstar, Claiming He’s a ‘DISCIPLINE DANGER’ – Will Eddie Howe Agree?

Chris Sutton aims dig at Bruno Guimaraes during Newcastle’s win over Burnley

Pundit Chris Sutton was not overly impressed with Guimaraes celebrating a tackle during Saturday’s 4-1 win over Burnley.

With the score 4-0 at the time, Sutton said he thought the behaviour was a tad too over the top.

Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live at 16.25 BST on 04/05/2024, Sutton said: “Bruno Guimaraes celebrating tackling a Burnley player, come on. You’re 4-0 up, you don’t need to celebrate that!”

Bruno Guimaraes is right to celebrate tackles for Newcastle

This isn’t the first time Guimaraes has celebrated a tackle and, hopefully, it won’t be the last.

The man plays with such intensity that such behaviour should be of little surprise.

Sutton misses the point. This is part of the midfielder’s game.

We wouldn’t change him for the world.

Bruno Guimaraes is a hero amongst Newcastle United supporters.

Not only is the Brazilian a fantastic talent on the ball, Guimaraes clearly loves playing for the club.

Whether or not he leaves this summer remains to be seen but what can hardly ever be doubted is the passion he’s shown since joining Newcastle from Lyon.

You only have to look at the record Eddie Howe’s team have without him. He really is that important to the cause.

They have not won a single game the midfielder has missed since he joined the club in January 2022.

That passion he shows on the pitch is simply part of his game, albeit he is more than capable of being disciplined.

Indeed, Guimaraes went 12 games without a booking having already amassed nine yellow cards in the opening 21 games of the season. In doing so, he successful avoided a two-game ban.

Still, it seems not everyone is a fan of some of his antics.
