Fans all slam one Chelsea star for his performance during defeat against Liverpool

Fans all slam one Chelsea star for his performance during defeat against Liverpool.

One Chelsea star was heavily criticised after the Blues’ defeat against Liverpool.

Enzo Maresca’s men produced a decent display at Anfield but ultimately came away with nothing as goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones sealed a 2-1 win for Liverpool.

Nicolas Jackson was the scorer for Chelsea as he equalised in the 48th minute.

Chelsea continued to push for a second equaliser in the closing stages but were up against a stubborn Liverpool defence.

As a result, Liverpool climbed back to the summit of the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City.

After the match, fans took to social media to express their disappointment over Chelsea star Cole Palmer, who endured a tough afternoon at Anfield.

One said: “Cole Palmer was below average today.”

Another tweeted: “If Palmer doesn’t turn up we don’t win. We’re the Cole Palmer FC.”

A third fan added: “One day we’ll have a conversation about Cole Palmer in big games….”

Someone else wrote: “After seeing Cole Palmer hype in the last few days, still dropped a stinker.”

A fifth commented: “Did Cole Palmer play today?”

Another fan said: “Also Cole Palmer is no Messi. Top player but take him off when he is having a bad day. Madueke was better and he had to go off?”

Speaking after the match, former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher heaped praise on Jones, who was named Player of the Match.

He said: “Curtis Jones was brilliant, he was outstanding. He’s still at that stage where he doesn’t know for certain if he is first choice, when you have got Gravenberch and Mac Allister.

“But what a performance that was, when you think of the quality on the pitch and the money that has been spent. For a local lad to be player of the match.”

Carragher added: “I wonder if Arne Slot is going to go back in for Zubimendi in January, but when you see how he played today you think ‘no’. He has to now do it on a consistent basis.”
