Pep Guardiola sends a clear message to Dejan Kulusevski after been knocked out of the Carabao Cup

Pep Guardiola sends a clear message to Dejan Kulusevski after been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

Spurs fans will love what Pep Guardiola said about Dejan Kulusevski after the Swede delivered another masterclass against Manchester City.

Dejan Kulusevski continues to go from strength to strength

Kulusevski has arguably been one of the players of the season so far, with the Swede having gone up a couple of gears since being moved to the attacking midfield role.

With James Maddison not involved against Manchester City, the 24-year-old had more freedom to drift across the pitch and make forward runs.

He was a constant threat all game, with the Premier League champions struggling to cope with the Spurs man’s running power and his enterprising play.

Pep Guardiola’s admission about Kulusesvki

By now, Spurs fans are used to having pundits showering praise on Kulusevski after each game, but this time it has come from the opposition manager.

Guardiola, who perhaps has more authority on the game than anybody in the world of football, is a part of Kulusevski’s fan club.

When asked about the former Juventus man, the Man City boss said after his side’s 2-1 loss (via Hayters TV): “Really really good player.” When asked what he likes about the Tottenham star, Guardiola responded: “Everything.”

The Spaniard was then quizzed on whether Kulusevski reminds him of Kevin De Bruyne, and he said: “No. Nobody is like Kevin. In his prime? The amount of things that Kevin produces in a game, nobody can do it!”.

Guardiola cannot stop praising Kulusevski

This is certainly not the first time that Guardiola has talked in glowing terms about Kulusevski.

After his side’s loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last year, he said (via TBR Football): “We had chances, and of course when we lose balls in transition with Kulusevski and Son, it is not easy. “

Speaking after his side’s 4-2 win over Spurs last year, Guardiola said (via TBR Football): “Kulusevski, Son, even Bentancur and the other one, they make incredible switch of plays, opposite sides. The threat they have in every single moment is incredible.”

Tottenham fans will be hoping that this is not the City boss’ way of tapping up the Sweden international and enticing him to the Etihad.
