West Ham United have lost another key player ahead of Everton’s visit to the London Stadium next week. The Hammers are next up for the Blues in a match that will have added importance after both teams suffered disappointing results on Saturday.

While Everton fell to a late defeat at previously winless Southampton, their next opponent was dismantled at in-form Nottingham Forest.

The 3-0 loss was the latest inflicted upon Julen Lopetegui’s side, who sit two places above Everton having picked up two more points from their opening 10 league games.

West Ham were already set to be without star winger Mohammed Kudus as he serves the final match of his three game ban for the red card picked up at Tottenham Hotspur.

Now Edson Alvarez will join him on the sidelines after the midfielder was sent off after picking up two yellow cards at Forest. The 27-year-old has featured in eight of his side’s Premier League games this season.

On the latest defeat in a tough start, Lopetegui set his sights on Everton as he said: “We are very disappointed today and we have to use these hard moments to push forward and to look forward to the next challenge.”
