Rashford makes bombshell Man United transfer admission amid Newcastle links

Marcus Rashford has admitted he is ready to leave Manchester United. The 27-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Newcastle United, has confirmed that he wants to depart Old Trafford amid reports that the club has put him up for sale during the January transfer window.

Rashford was left out of United’s squad to face Manchester City on Sunday, with Ruben Amorim making the decision based on his recent performances. It’s been claimed that United are ready to cash in on Rashford, who has scored just seven goals in 24 matches so far this season.

“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Henry Winter quotes him as saying. “When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

“If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.”

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Rashford in the past. Back in 2022, it emerged that the Magpies were keeping an eye on his situation after a disappointing campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick. However, Rashford stayed and produced the best season of his career, netting 30 goals in 56 games.

Rashford has since struggled for form over the last 18 months, which has put his future under question. It has been reported that United would consider offers of £40million for Rashford. Eddie Howe is a big admirer of Rashford, with the Newcastle boss hailing him as a “world-class” player back in 2023.

Howe said at the time: “Certainly he’s a hugely talented player. We need to be aware that if he plays, he has real strengths. He can give us problems if we don’t defend them well enough. We will be aware of him, but, as I say, if he doesn’t play, they have other players who can come in and do equally as good a job.”
