Sean Dyche Responds to Neal Maupay’s Viral Tweets.

Former Everton striker Neal Maupay caused a stir on social media with his controversial comments about his parent club, prompting frustration among fans. The French forward, who is currently on loan at Ligue 1 side Marseille, sparked outrage after posting a tweet that read, “Whenever I’m having a bad day, I just check the Everton score and smile.” The remark, perceived as mocking the Merseyside club, drew significant backlash from Everton supporters.

Despite the uproar, Everton manager Sean Dyche has chosen to downplay the situation, emphasizing that the club has more pressing concerns. Speaking in a recent press conference, Dyche addressed the issue but made it clear that Maupay’s comments would not result in any disciplinary action. The 28-year-old striker, who has not featured for Everton since being loaned out, remains under contract with the club, yet his relationship with the fans appears to have soured further following his remarks.

Dyche, known for his pragmatic approach, dismissed the need to focus on the controversy, stating that his priorities lie elsewhere. “I think it’s fair to say that there’s a bigger picture to Everton Football Club that I am focusing on,” the former Burnley manager explained. “I don’t think I need to be too worried about his comments.”

When pressed about whether Maupay’s behavior warranted disciplinary measures, Dyche was resolute in his stance, reiterating that the matter was not of significant concern. “I don’t think we’ll be worried about that [disciplinary action]. I don’t think we’ll be worried about any of that,” he said, signaling his intent to concentrate on the club’s broader challenges rather than engage with the striker’s social media activity.

Maupay, a former France Under-21 international, joined Everton in 2022 but struggled to make a significant impact during his time at Goodison Park. Since then, he has had loan spells at Brentford and Marseille, where he is currently playing. While his recent comments have only added to the disconnect between him and Everton supporters, Dyche’s decision to brush off the controversy suggests a focus on maintaining stability and addressing the team’s more urgent priorities.

By refusing to escalate the situation, Dyche has signaled his intent to focus on the on-field issues facing Everton, leaving Maupay’s comments as a footnote rather than a major distraction.
