“He has done wonders” – Former Spurs CEO urges Daniel Levy to replace Postecoglou with PL rival boss
Tottenham Hotspur should sack Ange Postecoglou and replace him with Thomas Frank.
That’s the opinion of the club’s former CEO Claude Littner, who believes Postecoglou is the root cause of many of the problems plaguing Spurs.
The Lilywhites lost 2-1 at home to Newcastle on Saturday afternoon, despite taking a fourth-minute lead through Dominic Solanke. First-half strikes from Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak were enough to seal Tottenham’s fate.
Spurs have now lost five of their last seven Premier League matches, slumping to 12th in the table, 12 points adrift of the Champions League spots.
Still, there are plenty of fans and pundits still giving Postecoglou the benefit of the doubt thanks to the chronic injuries, illnesses and suspensions he’s had to deal with this season.
Time for Ange Postecoglou to go?
Littner is not one of those offering Postecoglou any charity.
Instead, the American-born British businessman — who served as Tottenham CEO under Alan Sugar — believes it’s time the Australian was removed from his post.
“I know fans will not agree, but the primary responsibility lies with the manager and his management,” Littner wrote on X. “No idea how to defend corners, no tactical awareness. Ange stands still, just shaking his head instead of inspiring, engaging and motivating.”
Littner was then asked if he thinks Brentford boss Frank would be a suitable candidate to replace Postecoglou.
“Yes, he has done wonders and seems very sensible, personable and ambitious,” he responded.
Frank’s Brentford thrashed Southampton 5-0 away on Saturday in a result that saw them climb above Spurs into 11th place.
The Bees have become a consistent Premier League force under the Danish manager, with this their fourth consecutive top-flight season — returning 13th, ninth and 16th-place finishes so far.
