Chelsea have knocked on the doors of rivals Manchester City as they look to sign their attacking sensation Nico O’Reilly.

Chelsea’s transfer policy under the new ownership revolves around signing the best young player from across the globe. The Blues are constantly on the lookout for players who can help them in the long run, and they have identified Manchester City sensation Nico O’Reilly as an ideal fit for their player.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have already enquired about the availability of the English youth international, who is currently the skipper of Manchester City’s Under-21 team.

Nico O’Reilly has been a part of the City youth setup since his childhood days. The youngster has gone up the ranks at some pace, and he has been a part of their Under-21 setup since the summer of 2023. While he is yet to be promoted to the senior side, the 19-year-old already has six first-team appearances and a goal at the highest level.

The teenager is considered a special talent who can feature in any role in central midfield, and he can even cheap in with an occasional appearance in the final third and even at the back. His versatility along with his massive potential have attracted a lot of attention.

Chelsea are the ones who have taken note of his incredible rise and would love to add the attacking midfielder to their squad. They hope to do something similar to what they did when they raided Pep Guardiola’s team to sign Cole Palmer.

The 22-year-old has turned out to be their best signing in the recent past, and Chelsea believe Nico O’Reilly could have a similar growth. The Blues have been working hard to sign a new midfielder of late and they are looking to go after the signature of the City graduate.

The West London club have made an enquiry to sign the 2005-born midfielder. While the Blues are pushing hard to secure his services, they won’t find it easy to strike a deal with Manchester City, who are looking to keep hold of their young talent.

The Citizens do not want to lose control of the young prospect, and they will try everything in their power to ensure he stays at the club. Meanwhile, Chelsea are also interested in the services of Mathis Amougou, having enquired about him last week.
