Tottenham and Arsenal are both eyeing a move to sign ‘magnificent’ Chelsea midfielder this summer

Tottenham are eyeing a move to sign ‘magnificent’ Chelsea midfielder this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea share a very fierce rivalry.

The London clubs have no love for each other, and transfers between the two sides haven’t happened too many times either.

But, Tottenham were really keen to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea last summer, while there was interest from Spurs in Axel Disasi too in January.

Now, Tottenham are among a few other clubs interested in signing one of the Blues’ most exciting young talents this summer.

Tottenham and four other clubs eye move for Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos

Chelsea signed Andrey Santos from Vasco Da Gama in January 2023.

The midfielder, who was 18 at the time, had earned a ton of admirers, but the Blues managed to beat everyone else for his signature.

Santos then spent three months on loan a Vasco again before joining Nottingham Forest for another temporary spell.

But, after a difficult six months, Chelsea called him back and sent him on loan to Strasbourg in France, and he has been there since.

Santos has been hailed as the best midfielder in Ligue 1 this season following his performances for Strasbourg over the last few months

Now, CaughtOffside claim that the youngster is ‘not entirely committed to going back to Chelsea next season’

The report says that Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain, and AC Milan are all eyeing a move for Santos, who could be available for a fee in the region of €45-50 million (£38.5-42.7m).

Santos, who has been tipped to have a ‘magnificent career’ by Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior (The Athletic), has a contract at Chelsea that does not expire until the summer of 2030.

Fabrizio Romano has already shared Chelsea’s stance on Andrey Santos

Santos not being entirely committed to returning to Chelsea is an interesting update, but the Blues have him in their plans for next season.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who said just a few days ago that Maresca plans to have the Brazilian as one of his midfielders in 2025/26.

Romano said on GiveMeSport’s Market Madness: “When they received important approaches, for example, I remember Porto. Porto a year ago were prepared to pay a big transfer fee to sign Andrey Santos on a permanent deal, to let Chelsea also have an important sell-on clause to have future financial control of the player. Chelsea said no.

“Chelsea wanted to keep the player, send him on loan to Strasbourg, and that was the clear idea. So at the moment, the clear indication I’m getting is that Andrey Santos will be one of the midfielders for Enzo Maresca next season.”
