Mark Clattenburg makes VAR claim as he comments on Leeds United’s disallowed goal vs Plymouth.

Leeds United are champions after a gruelling test at Plymouth Argyle, as Manor Solomon saved the day.

Daniel Farke has gone one step further and won Leeds the title after an incredible ending at home park.

Solomon scored a brilliantly taken finish in the 91st minute to send the Whites away end into bedlam.

Leeds’ 2-1 win vs Plymouth means they’ve now achieved 100 points in this extraordinary season which will go down in history.

However, the biblical scenes almost didn’t come to fruition, as a controversial decision was made.

It was an excellent ending to a brilliant season for Farke and Leeds who can now start planning ahead in the Premier League.

Eddie Gray was involved with Leeds fans in Plymouth and he’s sure to have a good night as the Whites are finally crowned Champions.

From the dismay of missing out on the celebrations in 2020 to now jubiliation is exactly what Farke wanted to end this campaign.

However, it wouldn’t have been a Leeds game without any controversy, as the officials made another calamitous decision.

Solomon played it through to Willy Gnonto, who was judged to be offside as he put it across the goal for Joel Piroe to tap home.

This brought outrage from fans who could see Gnonto was clearly in an onside position, and speaking to LeedsUnited.News, former referee Mark Clattenburg was ‘baffled’ by the decision, making a strong claim about VAR

“Another offside situation that is upsetting Leeds United supporters,” Clattenburg said.

“Leeds thought they had scored but again were denied by the Assistant Referees flag. Replays show that the goal should have stood and now Leeds United are back in the Premier League will be happy that they will have VAR.

“I am still baffled why the Championship with so much money at stake, does not have VAR especially on offsides which are factual.”

It’s an incredible achievement for this Leeds team to get a 100-point season, so it’s such a shame to see this decision almost take centre-stage.

No doubt there would’ve been complete outrage had that decision cost the Whites, but luckily Solomon came up clutch.

Following on from the Middlesbrough win, Daniel Farke was fuming at offside decisions made, and had this cost Leeds the title, the Whites boss would’ve shown his ferocity once more.

With these decisions still being made, it’s clear the Championship needs VAR, and Clattenburg is spot on with his verdict.

Leeds fans will be looking forward to the Premier League to finally have VAR at their disposal, and now the party can get started.
