‘I Don’t Care’ – Ange Postecoglou Snaps Back at Man Utd Question Straight After Spurs Win
Ange Postecoglou was in no mood to discuss Tottenham’s upcoming UEFA Europa League final opponents, Manchester United, after guiding his side past Bodo/Glimt with a solid 2-0 away victory. Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro netted to send Spurs to a first European final since the 2019 Champions League final vs Liverpool.
Either the north London outfit or Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils will qualify for Europe’s elite competition next season, despite being on course to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League this term. Winning the Europa League grants entry to the Champions League, and that is what the two English sides will compete for in Spain later this month.
In the immediate aftermath of his team’s solid win against their Norwegian opposition, Postecoglou was asked about how important winning the competition is for his team, considering Amorim and Man Utd players have played down its importance in recent weeks.

‘Ask the Manchester United manager’
It was pointed out during the Australian’s post-match press conference that their future opponents don’t believe winning the continental trophy covers up a poor season. Before the question was even finished, a visibly frustrated and bemused Postecoglou hit back immediately, stating he doesn’t ‘care’ what Man United players and staff think:
“I don’t care. Why would I care what Man United think?
“Why is that relevant to me? Ask the Manchester United manager why he says that. I’ve said all along that this is important.”
After promising to deliver Tottenham’s first piece of silverware since 2008, the 59-year-old boss believes the media are beginning to ‘fear’ what might happen if he delivers exactly that. Continuing in his angry rant, Postecoglou added: “What’s happening right now is, people are fearing that [Tottenham winning a trophy]. Because it might happen, let’s see how we can tear it down somehow, diminish it somehow by saying that it’s been a poor season, and we don’t deserve this or don’t deserve that.”

After a tough season domestically, the Spurs manager is clearly keen to celebrate the successful European campaign to date. Should his team lift the trophy, he will care even less what outsiders have to say about the triumph, as he’ll be leading his team out in the Champions League next season.
